The static characteristics of the sensor refer to the correlation between the output and input of the sensor for the static input signal. The main technical indicators to measure the static characteristics of a sensor detection system are: sensitivity, resolution, linearity, hysteresis, etc.
1. Sensitivity
Sensitivity is an important indicator of the static characteristics of a sensor. It is defined as the ratio of the increment of the output to the increment of the response input that caused the change.
2. Resolution
Resolution is also known as the sensitivity threshold, which is the amount of change in the minimum input required to cause a small observable change in output. Because the input-output relationship of the sensor cannot be absolutely continuous, sometimes, the input amount begins to change, the output does not change accordingly, and when the input changes to a certain extent, the output suddenly produces a step change. This creates resolution and threshold issues.
3. Linearity
Linearity refers to the degree to which the actual relationship curve between the output and input of the sensor deviates from the fitted straight line. Defined as the ratio of the deviation value between the actual characteristic curve and the fitted straight line over the full scale range to the full-scale output value.
4. Hysteresis
The phenomenon that the input and output characteristic curves of the sensor do not coincide during the change of input quantity from small to large (positive stroke) and input from large to small (reverse stroke) becomes hysteresis. For input signals of the same size, the forward and reverse stroke output signals of the sensor are not equal in size, and this difference is called hysteresis difference.
