There are many applications of differential pressure transmitters, and some of the working conditions are more complicated, and it is difficult for on-site staff to judge where the real cause of the damage of the differential pressure transmitter is. Today we will analyze how the differential pressure transmitter is damaged during steam flow measurement.
The temperature of the medium measured by the differential pressure transmitter was first checked. After testing, the temperature of the measured medium did not exceed 85°C, but we found that the temperature of steam generated on site was as high as 400°C. In the normal use of the differential pressure transmitter, due to the role of the condenser, the differential pressure transmitter is directly in contact with the condensate, not directly in contact with the high-temperature steam. Therefore, the temperature of the medium during the measurement of the differential pressure transmitter does not exceed the normal range.
However, Xingyi’s technicians found that when the system was drained, because the condensate was evacuated, the high-temperature steam was directly led to the pressure chamber of the transmitter, causing the differential pressure transmitter to overtemperature. Therefore, the final damage to the differential pressure transmitter is caused by the high temperature of the measuring medium.
With a comprehensive analysis of the site, we can avoid this situation by adding a diaphragm isolator to the differential pressure transmitter. In this way, the measured high-temperature medium is transmitted to the measuring diaphragm of the differential pressure transmitter through the intermediary liquid, and the high-temperature medium will not directly contact the differential pressure transmitter, and the pressure will be transmitted to the transmitter through the isolation diaphragm and sealing liquid, even if the continuous blowdown or the blowdown valve is not strict and leakage, it will not cause overtemperature phenomenon.
