Time-domain soil moisture sensor has a wide range of soil applications and has important applications in soil and water conservation monitoring, soil hydrology monitoring, precision agricultural production, precision irrigation and other fields. During the use of the time-domain soil moisture sensor, our technicians received user feedback that the data was unstable when measuring, and after investigation, it was found that the user did not adopt the correct installation method. Today, the technicians of Xingyi will explain in detail how to properly install the time-domain soil moisture sensor.
Select the correct measuring point
The measurement point is selected to ensure that the time-domain soil moisture sensor and the measurement of soil contact are as good as possible. Soil moisture sensors are affected by a large range near the surface, and large voids or excessive soil compaction around any sensor and cross-electromagnetic interference between sensors can affect the reading. Moreover, time-domain soil moisture sensors should not be installed near metal objects or debris. In addition, the sensor should not be installed on the soil surface at a depth of 5 cm, which can easily sense the interface between the atmosphere and the surface, making the measurement of the sensor meaningless.
We can use the following method steps to install a time-domain soil moisture sensor
First dig a hole to ensure that the soil is in its original shape in the vertical direction of the slope. At the installation depth, scrape off the vertical surface of some soil to level the untouched soil. Insert the sensor to the installation depth of the original soil, and the appropriate direction for insertion is vertical insertion. until the entire sensing section is fully inserted (including the sensor tail). The probe of each sensor has been sharpened, be sure to pay attention to safety! After that, turn on the data collector for debugging, and backfill the pit of the soil after the reading is normal, and try to ensure that the bulk density of the backfill soil and the surrounding soil is consistent. To bury deep soil, it is necessary to backfill the soil in layers, that is, fill it layer by layer.
Correct use of cables
After the installation of the time-domain soil moisture sensor, the cable length for field applications of the time-domain soil moisture sensor can be easily customized (5 meters cable as standard) via a quick interface to the sensor. In order to improve the stability of data transmission, it is recommended that the cable length be customized by customers
